When
most people think of vintage silhouettes, they
think of profiles - stern men with beards and
solemn ladies with curls. However – the
silhouette was a very popular art form throughout
the 20 th century. Fantasy silhouettes of delicate
fairies and stout gnomes were found on German postcards
and silhouettes of Indians or dancing nymphs graced
American walls.
I
have created a series of silhouettes based on
vintage images – many
of which came from a magazine printed in the US
for immigrant housewives in the 1930s and 40s.
I have copied, enlarged, cleaned up and embellished
these images for the modern world and plan to add
more designs as time permits.
All items
come matted to fit standard frames. Only Bright
White is shown with a full mat – the
other images are shown with a small mat for faster
loading. Rest assured – the color is not printed
on the actual item, but is shown for your convenience.
These were not printed on my laser printer, but
from a plate by a local printer which has since been
destroyed. They have been printed on wide variety
of solid color card stock as well as some that is
faintly mottled like parchment. I do have multiple
copies of many colors but I do not have an unlimited
supply.
Please
note: I
have tried my best to accurately represent the
color of the card stock but all monitors are different.
Be aware that the actual item may not be exactly
